OUR STORY | HOW LOCAL FARE GOT STARTED
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Before Local Fare, Chris was an executive chef. Sourcing Local was always high priority for him along with raising the standard.
“We were always on the hunt for fresh and sustainable food. The best place to get high-quality, low-mileage food is from local farms. It supported our community and also kept the dining room full! It became apparent that the low cost and high-quality local food was not only hard to find, but the alternative commercially sold produce was astronomically priced!”
In 2011 Local Fare was born driven by a mission and a reason.
“We were hit even harder with these realities when, as young parents, our son was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Processed foods were shutting his body down. We could hardly afford to feed him healthy food on our income. So, it pushed us even harder to make local fresh food accessible AND affordable! It is a cause near and dear to our hearts and we are thankful every day for our community who make it possible.”

LOCAL FARE STANDARDS
Our solution is simple. Quality counts. Locals first. Make it easy.
Fresh local produce, meat and more from farm to door made easy all sourced from local farmers, regional ranchers and producers of great local products.
We believe in sustainable and regenerative practices when sourcing goods so you get the highest quality every time.
THE LOCAL FARE MISSION
It is our mission to provide the freshest, locally sourced products, showcasing our area’s farmers and the commitment we share to bring people a natural way of providing for their families.
For the health of our environment and your loved ones, we are passionate about bridging the gap between you and our local farmers.
WHO ARE OUR MEMBERS?
Local Fare members are “Rooted”, choosing Real over artificial because it matters. They feel connected to something bigger than themselves and accept nothing less. Our members want real food, to know where it comes from, and they value the community they live in.
If this sounds like you, then it means you care about the quality of the food you eat and feed your family. You’ve got a big heart and believe in supporting the local community.
You simply “get it” and eating real food makes absolute sense to you. You understand the importance of eating locally, seasonally and you’re not easily fooled by food industry tactics.
Our members believe in fighting for what’s important for themselves and their families against a broken food system. You could even say that our members are a little rebellious in a good way. You want real food from a source you can trust and you prioritize quality over cosmetically engineered food.
We believe that real food should be easily accessible, not a luxury good. We believe in feeding our own families the food we source, full of nutrients. We believe that it’s important to invest in the local community and causes. As a member, you’re helping us support local charities throughout Northeast Florida.
We believe it’s time to get back to the roots, like food was meant to be grown and enjoyed.
AS MEMBERS, YOU’RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE HELPING US GIVE BACK
We proudly sponsor Waste Not Want Not and a number of other Local organizations. In 2025 alone, Local Fare Jax was able to donate over 70,000+ lbs of food and help out other charities & groups because of our members.
